Rocketeer Guide | ARC Raiders Aerial Artillery Tactics & Loot (2026)

  1. ARC Threat File: Aerial Artillery Platform "Rocketeer"

Overview
The Rocketeer is a heavily armored, long-range aerial artillery unit that dominates open-air combat zones.

Threat LevelCritical
Armor PlateFull Plated

Engineered for maximum battlefield impact, the Rocketeer’s robust armor plating shrugs off small arms and most conventional explosives, requiring coordinated fire or heavy ordnance to bring it down. Its "Critical" threat level means that any encounter should be approached with extreme caution, as even well-prepared squads can be quickly overwhelmed by its missile barrages and resilient defenses. Stationed over key strategic locations or patrolling high-risk areas, it excels at suppressing fortified positions and forcing Raiders into constant movement with its powerful missile salvos. Its presence alone can dictate the flow of engagement, making it one of the most formidable airborne threats in ARC’s arsenal.

Durability & Health

How tough is the Rocketeer? Expect to chip through a hefty 1,100 health points before bringing this aerial menace down. Its reinforced armor soaks up punishment, so hit-and-run tactics or coordinated heavy fire are essential if you want to ground it before those missile barrages start stacking up.

Tactical Role & Deployment
Deployed to neutralize hardened resistance and control large areas, the Rocketeer functions as both a roaming deterrent and a stationary guardian. Its ability to target Raiders from extreme distances creates persistent area denial, complicating advances and punishing exposure.

Combat Mechanics & Targeting

  • Missile Lock-On: Projects 4 yellow lasers that converge on the target, turning red moments before firing 1–4 high-damage missiles. Two direct hits can incapacitate a Raider.

Scanner Stages: Lock-On Loss & Adaptation

Behavioral Shifts on Lost Target
When the Rocketeer loses direct line of sight or has its missile lock disrupted, expect a brief window of relative safety—but don’t get comfortable. The disappearance of its targeting lasers isn’t a permanent reprieve. Instead, the Rocketeer cycles through scanner behavior stages, each with distinct patterns:

  • Red Scanner Phase: Upon losing its mark, the unit enters an aggressive search mode. This phase typically lasts around 20 seconds, with the Rocketeer actively scanning for Raiders who may have slipped behind cover or out of range.
  • Yellow Scanner Phase: If the threat remains undetected, it shifts to a more cautious patrol, maintaining heightened alertness for another 20 seconds before relaxing its scanning intensity.
  • Blue Scanner Phase: During this stage, the Rocketeer settles into a passive state. Noticeably, its thrusters reorient from a diagonal "ready" angle to a vertical "standby" position, signaling a lower threat. This is your opportunity to reposition or regroup, but don’t linger—readiness can return in a flash.

Keep in mind: Even while scanning, stray missiles may still detonate near your position. Only consider yourself safe once the Rocketeer has fully disengaged, and always anticipate a rapid escalation if you’re spotted again.

  • Thruster-Based Mobility: Like other aerial ARCs, it relies on thrusters to maintain altitude. These are structural weak points but require sustained fire to disable.
  • Advanced Weak Points: The “eyebrow” armor plate can be shot off with high armor-penetration weapons, exposing a vulnerable top-mounted core ideal for high-rate-of-fire follow-up.

Estimated Durability

Estimated at approximately 1,100 hit points, the Rocketeer boasts significant resilience compared to standard ARC units. This high durability allows it to soak up substantial punishment before succumbing, so Raiders should be prepared for a prolonged engagement.

Engagement Strategies & Weakness Exploitation

  • Cover-First Approach: Never engage without substantial cover—buildings, rock formations, or reinforced structures are essential.
  • Thruster Focus: Concentrate fire on two thrusters to force a crash; a fall from sufficient height causes instant destruction.
  • High-Ground & Riding Tactics: Gaining elevation or using a Snap Hook allows Raiders to board the unit. Once atop, thrusters become exposed and unarmored—ideal for grenade placement or sustained fire.

Aerial Evasion Countermeasures

Once aboard the Rocketeer—whether you've soared up via Snap Hook or clambered on after grounding it—be prepared for pushback. The Rocketeer won’t simply accept its fate. Instead, if a Raider lingers on its back, it initiates an aggressive evasive maneuver: a sharp aerial flip designed to dislodge any riders. This sudden barrel roll can catapult Raiders into open fire or hazardous terrain below, so time your actions carefully and secure your footing. Remaining atop for too long is risky; staying mobile and dealing damage quickly is key to avoiding a forced ejection.

  • Grenade Effectiveness: Snap Blast Grenades attached to its top deal significant damage. Showstopper grenades can ground it temporarily, enabling boarding or mine attachment.
  • Synergistic Manipulation: A Lure Grenade attached to another ARC can trick the Rocketeer into damaging its own forces.

"Death From Above" Achievement — How to Earn It

Scoring the "Death From Above" achievement requires some daring acrobatics and precise timing. Raiders have two main options for boarding a Rocketeer:

  • Snap Hook Leaps: Use a Snap Hook to grapple directly onto the Rocketeer, or leverage creative high-ground positioning to jump aboard.
  • Stun Opportunities: Deploy a Showstopper or Hornet Driver to temporarily ground the Rocketeer—perfect for climbing on without the aerial chase.

Once on top, you’re free to unleash any weapon of your choice (yes, even melee). Rack up at least 50 damage while riding, and the achievement is yours. Just don’t linger too long—the Rocketeer will attempt an aggressive aerial flip to shake you off, so maintain your grip or finish up fast.

Evasion & Countermeasures
When its targeting lasers disappear (indicating full lock), immediately:

  • Execute a Dodge Roll
  • Take cover behind solid objects
Note that splash damage may still penetrate partial cover.
