Stationed over key strategic locations or patrolling high-risk areas, it excels at suppressing fortified positions and forcing Raiders into constant movement with its powerful missile salvos. Its presence alone can dictate the flow of engagement, making it one of the most formidable airborne threats in ARC’s arsenal.
Tactical Role & Deployment Deployed to neutralize hardened resistance and control large areas, the Rocketeer functions as both a roaming deterrent and a stationary guardian. Its ability to target Raiders from extreme distances creates persistent area denial, complicating advances and punishing exposure.
The Rocketeer doesn’t just threaten Raiders—it can become an unexpected hazard to its ARC allies as well. Thanks to its advanced targeting system, the Rocketeer prioritizes whatever it has locked onto, regardless of whether that target is a Raider or, through clever maneuvering, another hostile machine.
Savvy teams can exploit this by redirecting its aggression. For instance, devices that attract enemy attention can be strategically deployed near other ARC units. When the Rocketeer locks onto the decoy or a nearby unit, its formidable missile barrage may inadvertently damage or disable fellow machines caught in the crossfire.
Keep in mind: while this can give your squad an edge, proximity to the blast zone is always risky, as missile explosions have a considerable splash radius. Even indirect hits can destabilize the battlefield—sometimes harming foes, but occasionally complicating your own advance.
Combat Mechanics & Targeting
Missile Lock-On: Projects 4 yellow lasers that converge on the target, turning red moments before firing 1–4 high-damage missiles. Two direct hits can incapacitate a Raider.
Thruster-Based Mobility: Like other aerial ARCs, it relies on thrusters to maintain altitude. These are structural weak points but require sustained fire to disable.
Advanced Weak Points: The “eyebrow” armor plate can be shot off with high armor-penetration weapons, exposing a vulnerable top-mounted core ideal for high-rate-of-fire follow-up.
Scanner Behavior When Out of Sight
When the Rocketeer loses visual contact with a target, it enters a distinct scanning sequence. Initially, it sweeps the area with heightened alertness—this “red” scan mode typically lasts around 20 seconds, during which it actively searches for any sign of movement. If no threats are detected, it de-escalates to a “yellow” caution phase of similar duration, keeping its sensors on a lower level of readiness.
As the threat level drops further, the Rocketeer’s behavior shifts again. During this final “blue” phase, its thrusters—previously angled for active engagement—return to a more neutral, upright posture, signaling a full reset to standard patrol or overwatch routines. This window offers cautious Raiders a brief chance to reposition or prepare for their next move.
Engagement Strategies & Weakness Exploitation
Cover-First Approach: Never engage without substantial cover—buildings, rock formations, or reinforced structures are essential.
Thruster Focus: Concentrate fire on two thrusters to force a crash; a fall from sufficient height causes instant destruction.
High-Ground & Riding Tactics: Gaining elevation or using a Snap Hook allows Raiders to board the unit. Once atop, thrusters become exposed and unarmored—ideal for grenade placement or sustained fire.
Grenade Effectiveness: Snap Blast Grenades attached to its top deal significant damage. Showstopper grenades can ground it temporarily, enabling boarding or mine attachment.
Synergistic Manipulation: A Lure Grenade attached to another ARC can trick the Rocketeer into damaging its own forces.
Evasion & Countermeasures When its targeting lasers disappear (indicating full lock), immediately:

For Raiders hunting accolades as well as ARCs, the Rocketeer offers a unique achievement opportunity: Death From Above. To earn this, you'll need to board the aerial artillery platform during combat—either by using a Snap Hook to reach its top, combining vertical movement with careful positioning, or by forcing it to crash-land with a Showstopper or Hornet Driver stun. Once aboard, deal at least 50 points of damage to any enemy (including the Rocketeer itself) while riding.
Keep in mind, however, that lingering on its back isn’t without risk. The Rocketeer may attempt evasive maneuvers—including sudden flips—to shake riders loose if you linger for too long. Secure your footing, deal the necessary damage swiftly, then prepare to dismount before you’re unceremoniously launched skyward.
