Overview
The Hornet is a compact, armored aerial drone, identifiable by the protective plating covering its frontal section. It is equipped with an advanced shock-emitter weapon capable of stunning and damaging targets simultaneously. Operating as an enhanced patrol unit, the Hornet frequently coordinates with Wasp drones to secure key locations and neutralize threats to ARC operations.
Tactical Role
Believed to function as a rapid-response suppression unit, the Hornet is deployed alongside Wasps to defend probing sites and other ARC assets. Its primary role is to incapacitate Raiders, allowing other units to secure the area or deliver finishing blows.
Combat Behavior
Before firing, the Hornet projects a visible red targeting laser. It then launches a slow-moving stun round that, on impact, immobilizes the target and deals significant damage to both shields and health. This makes the Hornet particularly dangerous in open engagements where evasion is limited.
Key Weaknesses
Like other aerial ARC units, the Hornet relies on thrusters for mobility. However, its two front thrusters are protected by armor, requiring precise shots or armor-piercing ammunition to disable. Heavy Ammo is highly effective at stripping this armor quickly. The rear thrusters remain unarmored and can be targeted with any ammunition type.
Destroying two thrusters causes the Hornet to crash. A high fall can destroy it instantly.
If grounded for too long, it will overheat and ignite.
Evasion Tactics
Change position immediately after the Hornet fires
Perform a Dodge Roll or Slide maneuver
Break line of sight using cover or foliage
Avoid remaining in open areas once the Hornet is alerted
