I’m sure most of you have already ripped open your packs, built your squads, and are ready to hit the pitch. When starting your Ultimate Team, one of the first major decisions is choosing your Foundation Players. Since I’m running a Premier League-focused squad, I went with Wataru Endō.
Here’s my take on how he performs in FC 26.
First, you’ll need to complete the Foundation objective in Moments to claim your choice of one of the five Foundation players. Honestly, I didn’t expect much—his pace is nothing special, and he’s clearly meant to be a temporary option. But after grinding Division Rivals matches all night, I was genuinely surprised. His speed turned out to be more than sufficient, and he often dropped back to cover as a center-back, making clean tackles from behind.
As a Deep-Lying Playmaker, he boasts double-plus traits. If you’re used to (or honestly, tired of) the classic double-pivot meta from FC 25, Endō will fit right in. He also comes with handy Silver traits like Bruiser and Battery, and the Relentless trait is a nice bonus.
On the ball, he feels smoother than expected. He can break up plays, turn, carry the ball forward, and distribute it simply. Don’t overload him with complicated tasks—keep it straightforward, and he’ll deliver. And let’s be real, when does your CDM ever take shots anyway?
I haven’t tried the other four Foundation players yet—might test out that Bayern center-back on my second account tomorrow. This isn’t a comparison, but if you’re considering Endō, I’d say he’s definitely a solid choice. He might not be flashy, but he’s a reliable, no-nonsense CDM for Premier League starter squads.
