Today we're checking out the World Tour Reece James SBC—a pseudo-fullback that’s actually ++.

This year’s first major SBC is here, and yeah… it’s a bit expensive. On paper it’s just over 40k, but come on EA—it’s early access! An 83, 84, and 85 rated squad? My whole starting XI isn’t even 85 rated! I went almost bankrupt completing it. But here are the details:

I’d been using his gold card, and this one definitely feels noticeably better. The PlayStyles are practical too—compared to his base version, he gets Silver Rapid and Silver Relentless.

Since Kyle Walker fell off meta, Premier League hasn’t had a truly reliable right-back. This year, the league’s best option, Frimpong, is honestly a liability in physical duels. The main concern most people have with this James card is probably his pace—81 speed does look low for a fullback.

But in-game, it honestly doesn’t feel that bad. Thanks to Rapid, he rarely gets completely burned on the wing. As long as you don’t press too high, he holds his own. His biggest strength is how he sticks to opponents and just… takes the ball. His defensive stats and traits are solid for this stage of the game. I’ve been using him as a inverted fullback, so he tucks inside more and helps shield the center—works really well.

Going forward, he’s surprisingly strong carrying the ball. He can hold off challenges and drive up the pitch—better than I expected. Gives me Theo Hernández-on-the-right vibes… but let’s be real, he’s still kind of a “powered wheelchair”.

So yeah—he’s good… but he’s pricey. Look, a powered wheelchair is still a wheelchair. This isn’t one of those no-brainer SBCs everyone rushes to complete. It’s more of a “if you did it, it’s acceptable” kind of deal. Honestly, if he had 85 pace, nobody would even hesitate.
