Destiny 2's "No Hesitation": The Revolutionary Medic Gun That Heals Allies and Hurts Foes
The Final Shape has fundamentally reshaped Destiny 2’s gameplay sandbox. Among Bungie's most innovative changes is the introduction of a new weapon archetype: the Support Frame Auto Rifle. This complex non-exotic weapon functions as a true "medic gun," seamlessly blending damage and healing in one versatile package.
Equipping this weapon adds a unique semicircle meter near your reticle. Here’s the core loop:
Build Charge: Deal damage to enemies to fill the meter.
Heal Allies: Hip-fire to deplete the meter, healing targeted allies. Each bullet restores a small amount of health, followed by a brief Restoration effect after a few seconds of sustained healing (triggering Ember of Benevolence for Solar builds).
Gain a Damage Boost: The same few seconds of healing grant you a Support Frame Boost, increasing your damage output. This creates a dynamic, push-pull rhythm between dealing damage and supporting your team.
Hidden Mechanics (Not in the Game Description):
Smart Rounds: While hip-firing, bullets will damage enemies unless aimed directly at an ally, at which point they switch to healing.
Light Tracking: Both healing and damage bullets feature mild projectile tracking, similar to the exotic SMG Osteo Striga.
No Hesitation is the first weapon in this groundbreaking archetype. Here’s how to build it for endgame PvE:
Barrel: Smallbore or Hammer-Forged Rifling (Stability/Range)
Magazine: Tactical Mag, Appended Mag, or Accurized Rounds
Column 3 (Key Perk):
Physic (Best-in-Slot): Grants you Restoration when you give it to an ally. The enhanced crafted version provides Restoration x2, offering incredible survivability.
Demolitionist/Overflow: Excellent utility for grenade energy and sustained fire.
Column 4:
Incandescent: Synergizes perfectly with Solar subclasses for add-clear.
Circle of Life: Extends your Support Frame Boost duration.
Attrition Orbs (Sleeper Pick): Its usual downside is negated. It now creates orbs when healing allies, making it a powerful support option.
Masterwork: Reload Speed or Range
Its impact on the Crucible meta is still unfolding, but it excels in team-shot and lane-holding scenarios.
Barrel: Smallbore or Hammer-Forged Rifling
Magazine: Accurized Rounds
Column 3: Physic or Overflow
Column 4: Circle of Life, Desperate Measures, or Disruption Break (for team-shot debuffs)
Masterwork: Range (essential for effective hip-fire healing at a distance)
Think of it as a support-oriented Osteo Striga, applying tracking pressure while offering clutch heals during ranged engagements.
After extensive testing, here’s a breakdown of its current state from a player's perspective.
Pros:
Fun & Unique Loop: The damage/heal cycle is engaging and rewarding.
Solid PvE Add-Clear: With Incandescent, it handles waves of minor enemies effectively. It feels stable, has a comfortable fire rate, and the light tracking improves hip-fire feel.
Effective Healing: Healing is responsive and potent. Roughly half a magazine can fully heal a critically wounded ally.
Clutch in Casual PvP: The ability to provide on-demand healing during objective fights or lane duels can decisively swing engagements.
Cons & Current Limitations:
PvE Damage Fall-Off: Against elite enemies or bosses, its damage is insufficient, forcing a weapon swap and breaking the healing loop. You often can't be both an effective damage dealer and a dedicated healer in high-tier content.
Healing Projectile Issues: The slow-moving bullets struggle to track fast-moving allies or those in melee combat. A significant amount of healing potential is lost due to misses.
PvP Inconsistency: In fast-paced Crucible matches, landing shots on evasive targets is difficult. The healing often arrives too late, and its time-to-kill (TTK) is outclassed by meta dueling weapons.
The Verdict: Is It Meta?
Fun? Absolutely. Good? It's a decent and innovative PvE weapon. Worth Trying? 100%.
However, it is not currently a meta-defining weapon. Its niche is strong, but critical flaws—especially the unreliable healing projectiles and middling single-target damage—hold it back from top-tier play.
Rating: 6/10. No Hesitation is a fantastic proof of concept for support primaries. With future tuning (e.g., significantly improved tracking for healing bullets), this archetype could become a staple. For now, it's a fun and worthwhile experiment that shines brightest in coordinated, casual play.
